Nuba Launches New Retail Line of Hummus Flavours on International Hummus Day

Just in time for International Hummus Day on May 13, beloved Vancouver restaurant brand Nuba is pleased to launch their new retail line of hummus in three delicious flavours — Classic (Nuba Lebanese style), Spicy Green (herb and jalapeño), and Tangy Sweet (pomegranate and sumac).

It’s not surprising that hummus gets its own day of recognition. The main ingredient — chickpeas — might just be the perfect food. The legume is high in protein, fibre, and essential amino acids; low in fat; and enriches the soil it grows in. Nuba takes it a step further by using only 100% traceable Kabuli chickpeas grown by Canadian farmers and sourced by local artisan flour mill and bakery, Flourist.

Best of all, when blended with tahini, garlic, lemon juice and olive oil, chickpeas are transformed into hummus . . . and there’s no place that makes it better than Nuba. Since the first location of the Lebanese eatery opened almost two decades ago, it’s become renowned for its tried and true version of the Middle Eastern staple, and now, fans can enjoy it at home.

The new retail line of hummus is available for purchase through Spud, Be Fresh and Organic Acres Market beginning Friday, May 13, with additional retailers coming soon.

Complimentary Hummus Tasting & Free Hummus for a Year

From May 9 to 13, Nuba fans will have the opportunity to taste the new hummus flavours before they're released to the public. Guests dining in at all four Nuba locations during this week will be treated to a complimentary hummus appetizer trio and will also be able to purchase the hummus flavours to take home. Each guest who dines in will also be entered to win free ‘Hummus for a Year’ valued at $450.
