Beetbox Ends One Chapter in the West End; Makes Plans for the Rest of the Story

Beetbox, the West End’s favourite destination for delicious plant-based comfort food, will be closing its doors at the end of the month, with the last day of service taking place on May 28. To thank their fans and followers, in its final few weeks at the Davie Street location the Beetbox team will be dishing up a few of the eatery’s greatest hits.

Since opening in the fall of 2019, Beetbox became a fast favourite – not only with vegans and vegetarians, but with flexitarians and full-blown omnivores too — for its 100 per cent plant-based menu of “conscious comfort food.” Which makes it all the more difficult for co-owners Justin Tisdall and Bryan Satterford to close this chapter for the restaurant.

Tisdall has written a letter of thanks to the Beetbox community:

“When Bryan and I began envisioning Beetbox, we knew we wanted to continue to expand upon the ethos of our small independent company. Being earth-friendly, sourcing local ingredients, and feeding our community with fun and imaginative plant-based foods are the heart of what our values are. It’s with a heavy heart that we will be closing Beetbox’s doors on May 28th. No, this does not mean Beetbox is gone forever. You’ll be able to enjoy our Classic Chick-Un Sandwich popping up at some local events while we hunt for a new location.

“From the bottom of our hearts, we want to say a huge thank you to all of our staff that have helped us develop and grow as a company, got us through the pandemic, and gave their time to Beetbox. To all the guests who have supported us since we opened just before the pandemic, thank you for all the love. Beetbox was a place we could plant our roots deeper into our community and grow our brand while at the same time giving back. We are incredibly thankful that we had the opportunity to work with so many great people, companies, and charities along the way. We're also truly humbled by how quickly we had been accepted into the Vegan community. We hope we get the chance to grow with you all in the future.

“Vancouver is one of the world’s best hubs for plant-based food. I am glad we got to be a part of the broadening of what plant-based dining can be, if even for just a short while.

“To Vancouver, the Beetbox community, and our friends, thank you all for the love. We’ll miss you, but we’ll be back. Take care for now.”

Both Tisdall and Satterford want to show appreciation for all the support they’ve received from the Beetbox community. To help them do it, they’ll be featuring a few of their greatest hits for the final three weeks of service at the Davie Street location, including their Buffalo Chicken Sandwich, Christmas Come Early- Holiday Sandwich and All Day Breakfast Sandwich 2.0 — stay tuned via @beetboxveg on Instagram for when these menu items will be appearing.
